The short version
- No accounts, no sign-ups, and no ads.
- We don't collect names, email addresses, photos or locations from players.
- Game progress and player profiles stay in the browser on your own device.
- We count anonymous daily totals (like "Page Quest was played 25 times today") to learn which games kids enjoy. We don't store IP addresses or use cookies for this.
- We don't sell or share information with anyone.
Who we are
SpiderBen10's Arcade (nzdogames.com, "the arcade") is a free collection of learning games made by a young game designer who goes by SpiderBen10 (NZDO). It is run by ("we", "us"). The games follow the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.
What stays on your device
Player profiles (a nickname, an arcade name, grade, theme and settings), favorites, recently played games, game progress, scores, Page Quest bookmarks and books written in the Writer's Desk are saved in your browser's local storage on that device. They are never sent to us, and we can't see them.
To remove them, open the player menu (👤) and choose Delete for a player, or clear this site's data in your browser settings.
Anonymous usage stats
On nzdogames.com, the arcade sends a few small, anonymous messages to our own server:
- when the arcade menu opens (once a day per device this includes the chosen grade, the type of device (phone, tablet or computer), the device's time zone, and the theme);
- which game was opened, and the grade;
- how many seconds a game was on screen.
We keep only daily totals, such as how many times each game was played and for how long. We don't record IP addresses, names, device IDs or browser details with these totals, we don't use cookies for them, and we can't identify any person from them. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, the arcade sends no stats at all.
The arcade menu shows which games were played most this week, using only those anonymous totals (how many times each game was played).
Like every website, our hosting provider (Microsoft Azure) handles basic network information, such as IP addresses, in order to deliver the pages. We don't keep or use that information.
We keep the daily totals for up to two years.
No third-party trackers
The games load everything, including fonts, from nzdogames.com itself. There are no ads, no social media buttons, and no outside analytics or tracking services.
Tips and charity gifts (grown-ups only)
The support page, behind a grown-up check, links to outside sites: a payment provider for optional tips, and No Kid Hungry for gifts to that charity. Those sites have their own privacy policies. We never see card or bank details. For a tip, the payment provider may share basic payment details with us (such as the tipper's name, email and the amount); we use them only for our records and never share them. Gifts to No Kid Hungry go directly to them, and we don't receive information about them.
Children's privacy
The arcade is made for children, so it's built to not collect personal information from them. There is nothing to sign up for and no place to type an email or message to us. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Teachers and schools: the arcade needs no student accounts and collects no student records.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update it on this page and change the date at the top. If we ever wanted to collect personal information from children, we would first ask for a parent's permission, as the law requires.
